I had never ridden a motorcycle until I
moved from Rochester, NY to Tucson, AZ. In the beginning of 1974, we
were experiencing a gas crunch, so I decided to try a motorcycle.
Purchased a 1974 Honda CB360T, had to teach myself to ride and got
some good hints from reading "The Complete Motorcycle Nomad." I got
hooked. Rode Moto Guzzi's for
the next 20 years, until Marty, at Iron Horse, won me over to the
BMWs. I bought a 95 K1100LT, loved it, wrecked it after making a
mechanical mistake. Replaced it with a 96 K1100LT. I rode Motors for
the Tucson Police Dept. from 1979 and was an instructor the last 13
years, until I retired from the department in January 1997. Wished I
had kept track of all the miles I had ridden since I started back in
74, as I just need a few thousand more miles for my first 100,000 on
BMWs.
Iron Horse was able to get me a new,
white, 2003 R1150RT-P. I had some red and blue accents painted on
it, added some extra lighting and the bike is great fun to ride.
