Death Valley Daze 2012

DVD 2012 was a HUGE success thanks to the Blomstrom and Salzgeber Team!

...  Saturday Mother Nature kicked up the wind (60 mph was the forecast) and the dust!

…That's Gary Blomstrom, half of the Deb & Gary Organization Team, checking out the collective camp site where all the action took place for the Friday night weenie roast and Deb's most excellent Saturday night stew dinner!

…The camp fire burned all afternoon and really helped keep the chill off.  L to R:  Faith Salzgeber, Steve Woodward, Gary Blomstrom, Deryle Mehrten and John Willmann.

…Roger Salzgeber, on the left beside his lovely wife Faith, joined the fire pit crew.  Nice chairs ;)

…All the food is laid out for the weenie roast.  P.S.  Everywhere you go there's a SEAT Shirt!

…A place close to the fire got hard to find as all the SEAT guys and gals gathered up around the camp fire.   You can never bring too much fire wood...ain't it the truth.

…Neither wind, rain, sleet nor foot just out of the cast can hold Craig Littlefield back!  This was his first ride after getting the cast off his foot, and oh by the way, that was two days before this picture.  Way to go Craig!

…Breakfast with some awesome rainbows over the valley.  The storm seemed to rise up as it came across the valley, though it brought enough moisture to create amazing rainbows.  Friday night it sprinkled several times but not really enough to get the ground wet for long.  Now the winds on Saturday...wow...they were outrageous!

…Got to have the obligatory picture at Badwater, 282 feet below sea level.  That little bitty sign way up in the top center of the picture is sea level.  Nice bike!

…Jack Herbst gets a limo ride from the Furnace Creek Ranch over to the camp grounds.  Nice ride!

…Camp sites 83 and 84.  Don Cameron and Steve Woodward were on site 84; and Wanda and Deryle shared site 83 with John Willmann.  Night sounds in the valley can be very amusing ;)

…Deb Blomstrom stirs the stew she prepared with the famous Death Valley Daze Paddle.  Her sister gave her the receipe and we ate like kings and queens.  The left over stew was given to the Boy Scouts who seemed to be every where around the camp grounds.

…Deb and Gary, on the left, chop up the last of the fixings for the Saturday night stew dinner.  They brought every thing needed for a great dinner.  Did we mention it was Roger and Faith who truck and trailered all the stuff to the valley?  Teriffic group of folks, for sure.

…Standing in the back is Len Robbins and Dave Delie.  Craig and John Willmann are working out the problems of the world as Steve Woodward with his back to us, chows down!  Great food and plenty to go around.

…The feast is on and the camp fire is in full blaze.  Lots more tall tales and tire kicking to do before folks began to wander off to thier hotel room or tent.  The Maker's Mark, brought by none other than Deb and Gary might have been a contribitor to an early night by a few of us...

…This is what it was all about.  Great group of folks, great group of motorcyclists.

…Sunday morning breakfast of turkey bacon, scrambled eggs, toast and coffee/juice with the mountains of Death Valley surrounding us.  By 10 am most everything was packed into Roger and Faith's trailer and ready for the return trip to Tucson.  Thanks guys for all the hard work.  We appreciate it.
