Coolidge to the Beeline Highway via Usery Pass and the Bush Highway

There are times when a bit of freeway is the right thing to do.  Like when you want to make a bunch of miles first thing out, then slow down and take the leisurely path.  Dashing up I-10 then cutting northwest to avoid Phoenix and all her congested streets is a perfect example.

Jumping off I-10 at Highway 87 will take you to Coolidge and the intersection of Hwy 87 and Hwy 287.  At the stop light just past Coolidge turn east and keep an eye out for Attaway Rd that will take you over to the Hunt Highway and connect you to Ellesworth Road.  It’s a bit of suburbia until you get to Usery Pass and Bush Highway where you are riding along the Salt River.

There is a restaurant and lake boat rides at Saguaro Lake.  Lots of visitors stop so the tourist traffic can be a bit much here.  All the stops along the river have picnic tables and places to do some hiking.

This is definitely a SLC&WA that is heavy on the way around.
