Arivaca Road

Arivaca Road from I-19 at the Amado Exit dips and weaves to the old hippy town of Arivaca and then twists and turns it way to Sasabe Road (Hwy 286). East of Arivaca the road is a designated Scenic Highway; the road west of Arivaca hasn’t been so designated and it can be a bit rough in places.
Just before you come into town there is a great coffee stop, the Gadsden Coffee Company. Many of the riders who regularly ride out to Arivaca use the coffee shop as their excuse for the ride, and it is a good one. Look up at the picture on the ceiling. Those kids are now the adults that you may be having coffee with!
The city has grown up some over the last year or ten. There is a grocery store and a gas station along with a few touristy shops that may well have been started by one of the original Commune members from way back. During hunting seasons the parking lots can be filled with pickup and four wheel drive vehicles on their way out to go deer or bird hunting.
The Arivaca Road is a must do for any motorcyclist that gets into twisty-turny roads. As a SLC&WA it is one of the best ways around you’ll find in the Tucson area.
