Chiricahuas National Monument

Friday the 13th

Great SEAT ride to CHIR np. Park Centennial. No visitor fee. Ony a few visitors in the entire park.Group departed early from Vail proper, bike fuel tanks full, body bladders empty. Clear skies, no wildfires, light wind. Upper 70's in the park, 80's most of trip out east. 260 miles or so. Eight riders and one dog passenger. Several RTs of various vintages. One new black beauty Indian performance Challenger - former HD fella traded. Interstates suck - too many vehicles and trucks. The wonderful remote County roads empty except for the thousands of butterflies. Signs and smells of late summer/early autumn vegetation in the air.FYI,

Relaxing at the top, then on to lunch at the Horseshoe in Benson

Big Tex BBQ closed (construction?)
