New Years Day Ride

January 1, 2026

Report from Skip Bleaker

Four Brave (or Stupid) Riders; Daryl, Mike Ostrum, Pat, and Skip met at McDonald’s at 9:30.  The trip up Mt Lemmon was uneventful until somewhere between 4,000 and 5,000 feet of elevation.  Fog settled in after passing 4,500 ft and continued up until Windy Point Scenic Vista.  Visibility was down to less than 25’ at some points along the road.  At Windy Point, it was actually hard to see the parking turn off and I had a close call with a parked car because I didn’t see it until when I was about 15’ away.   Visibility was again bad on the way down but rain was added that stung our faces because we had to have our visors open so we could see.  After Molina Basin Campground, the fog lifted and the rain went away.  I would venture to say this was one of the slowest rides ever in the SEAT history of riding Mt Lemmon.
